Sunday 8/16 Starting Pitcher Streamer Rankings
Auto-Starts
- Tarik Skubal vs. MIL: Aces gonna ace.
- Sean Burke @ DET: He’s vying for the AGA tag.
- Dylan Cease vs. NYY: Aces gonna ace.
- Bryan Woo @ HOU: It’s a small test on the road, but his velocity is 97+ mph now.
- Eury Pérez @ CIN: Pérez’s fastballs are killing it. Hopefully the secondaries come next.
- Logan Henderson @ LAD: It’s the first of two tough starts for his Coronation Day.
Probably Starts
- Trevor Rogers @ TBR: He’s at 95 mph, and last start was a day of unusually poor command that shouldn’t last.
- Noah Cameron @ LAA: He’s pitched great over the last few weeks, and nearly survived the Dodgers.
- Jacob Lopez vs. TEX: We’re seeing JLo have the same approach as last summer’s fantastic run.
- Ryan Weathers @ TOR: Weathers is axing the four-seamer and letting the sinker + secondaires get it done.
- Hunter Brown vs. SEA: Brown’s four-seamer is still struggling to get strikes, and I’m a little worried something is up.
Questionable Starts
- Christian Scott vs. WSH: Scott is lacking a vertical pitch to take down the bottom of the zone, but his high four-seamer/cutter combo may be enough with the sweeper flipping in to LHB.
- Tanner Bibee vs. SDP: Bibee has been tinkering all season with his fastball movement and I don’t believe he’s found a consistent, reliable approach.
- Nick Lodolo vs. MIA: Lodolo generally needs a few starts to get going, but could give you find solid frames here.
- Freddy Peralta vs. BAL: This feels wrong, right? And yet, he’s making his first start in the Trop (not Coors and Sacré Verde), and his four-seamer will benefit from the dome. I dig the increased changeup usage, too.
- Dean Kremer vs. PHI: Kremer was AMPED for his revenge game against the Orioles and could carry over that improved velo and splitter + cutter command.
- Blade Tidwell vs. COL: Don’t be fooled by Tidwell’s fantastic game against the Astros – the RHB lineup fed into Tidwell’s best offering, leading to a ton of sweeper whiffs outside and off the plate. However, it’s still Rockie Road and that may be enough to create a decent performance despite fewer RHB to take advantage of.
- Casey Mize @ CLE: I’m still waiting to see a fully healthy Mize execute his slider effectively with fastballs sitting 93/94 for the whole outing. His splitter has gotten worse, too, which may be exposed against a possibly LHB-exclusive Cleveland lineup.
- Andrew Painter @ MIN: I wonder what we’ll see from Painter. If it’s few fastballs and stellar secondary command with a lean on changeups, he could be a reliable Toby here and moving forward.
- Edward Cabrera vs. STL: It’s a Still ILL for ECab and I’m not sure how long they’ll let him go, let alone if he’ll have the strikes to get through it efficiently.
Do Not Starts
- Cody Bradford @ ATH: As much as I enjoy Bradford as a sneaky stream, Sacré Verde isn’t the place to do it.
- Bryce Elder vs. ARI: I don’t buy it, and he just got bamboozled for five in the first, even if it came with some bad luck. Still, we know he at least has achance.
- Hunter Dobbins @ CHC: Dobbins’ new cut-focused approach creates an opportunity for Koufax to steer him through 5+ frames, but the velocity dropped last time out + the command was far worse.
- Michael Soroka @ ATL: It’s his second game back from the IL and I’m waiting for his command to return to its early-season form before trusting him in tough starts like these.
- Drew Anderson vs. CHW: Anderson was stretched out to 70 pitches last time, but has not given us a reliable BSB with his four-seamer and split-change.
- Ryan Johnson @ KCR: Johnson is a junkballer who is fortunate to go five frames. The Royals may make for a decent start, but the ceiling is too low at a small chance.
- Patrick Sandoval @ PIT: The Irish Panda gets a good matchup, but I don’t trust the fastballs, nor both secondaries to earn enough whiffs to produce.
- Jake Irvin @ NYM: The velocity is up, and it hasn’t helped. It comes down to the breaking pitches to find their former shine.
- Gabriel Hughes @ SFG: As much as I enjoyed his start hosting the Nationals, we haven’t seen that precision on his cut-fastball in or out of Coors since.

Monday 8/17 Starting Pitcher Streamer Rankings
Auto-Starts
- Cristopher Sánchez vs. MIA: He’s getting closer to AGA.
- Nolan McLean vs. SDP: He bounced back against Atlanta and we should ignore the disaster start for now.
Probably Starts
- Michael Wacha vs. ATH: He’s a legit Toby in a good matchup.
- Ranger Suarez vs. ARI: The command was much better last time out with 80+ pitches, and hopefully it sticks for another outing.
- Shota Imanaga vs. CHW: The HRs are coming back and the velocity dipped under 91 mph once again. I’m giving him another start to make it right.
- Blake Snell @ COL: It was such a good Still ILL that you feel great about this…except he told the media how much he hated pitching in Salt Lake City during rehab, due to the elevation.
Questionable Starts
- Brandon Young @ TBR: I have a good feeling that the Trop will amplify Young’s heater and make this a strong outing.
- Nick Martinez vs. BAL: Martinez’s strikeout rate isn’t pretty, but the ratios are fantastic.
- Martín Pérez @ MIN: He’s cruising at the moment and could gather another cheap win against the Twins.
- Framber Valdez @ PIT: Valdez gets a great matchup and let’s hope he gets all the groundballs again after another game of disappointing strike rates.
Do Not Starts
- Luis Castillo @ CHC: Castillo wasn’t great in Seattle and now has an overall worse situation with the White Sox, in a tough matchup.
- Rhett Lowder vs. STL: Not the worst play, but it would be better if it weren’t in his home park.
- Mitch Bratt @ BOS: He’s had a good run lately, but I don’t buy
- Andre Pallante @ CIN: Maybe it works well again, I’m not one to take a chance on this.
- Quinn Mathews @ CIN: We’re seeing Quinn again in a doubleheader. There’s some promise here, of course, but the disjointed starts do him no favors.
- Janson Junk @ PHI: Junk has the stuff, but has not found the right approach, nor the trust to go deep into the game.
- Walker Buehler @ NYM: I don’t like this at all, but I have to recognize that he’s put up better ratios than expected for many of his games, even if they were hovering five frames or fewer.
- Bailey Ober vs. ATL: He’s throwing 87 mph, but at least he has a long leash…?
- Mason Barnett @ KCR: We haven’t see him put it together yet as he stretches out, but at least he’s away from home.
- Carmen Mlodzinski vs. DET: How long will he go? Will it matter?
- Tomoyuki Sugano vs. LAD: I’d LOVE for this to be Win number thirteen. Super unlikely.
- Chase Petty vs. STL: He’s here for the doubleheader and is not a guy to trust yet, if ever. I hope he gets there in time.
